Betsy McCorkle leads our team and has over a decade of lobbying success with a focus on developing and executing successful government affairs strategies for a diverse set of clients. Betsy has accepted speaking and consulting invitations from across the country to share her strategies and the outcomes of her work. Before co-founding Kairos Government Affairs, Betsy gained extensive experience leading diverse coalitions of businesses and non-profits toward legislative goals. Betsy also has experience in workforce development, economic development, agricultural policy, and has been responsible for managing Republican political campaigns across the southeastern United States. As a military spouse, Betsy leads efforts as a Board Director for the Susan M. Tillis Foundation, which has a mission to support junior enlisted military members and their families. Betsy also serves as a Board Director for the Conservative Energy Network, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting clean energy innovation rooted in conservative values.
In 2021, Betsy was recognized as a member of the Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class. The Triangle Business Journal recognized Betsy a second time in 2023 as a “Women in Business” Honoree. In 2022, The North Carolina Leukemia and Lymphoma Society recognized Betsy with their Outstanding Citizenship Award for her community leadership to raise over $85,000 in the fight against cancer.
Betsy received a Juris Doctor from Campbell University School of Law, and she holds a Master Degree in Environmental Management from Duke University. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Economics from the University of Georgia (UGA). Betsy was a 2013 Recipient of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Young Alumni Achievement Award, a 2012 Recipient of the J.W. Fanning Distinguished Young Professional Award, and a 2026 Recipient of the Bulldog 100 Award, recognizing the 100 fastest growing companies owned by University of Georgia graduates.
Betsy and her husband, Ben, live in Apex with their daughter where they coach basketball and serve with their church’s youth group.
Brittany Conrad has served the clients of Kairos Government Affairs since 2019. Brittany supports the firm’s efforts to secure favorable outcomes for the clients of KGA.
Before joining the firm, Brittany worked for Wake County Public School System for eight years, first as a preschool special education teacher, and then as a coordinating teacher at the central office. In her role as coordinating teacher, Brittany coached and supported classroom teachers across Wake County in policy implementation, special education processes and compliance, and family engagement.
Brittany received a Master of Education in Early Childhood Intervention and Family Support from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development from Meredith College.
Brittany and her husband, Marshall, live in Garner with their twin boys.
Named as one of the “Top Lobbyists” in North Carolina, Christopher Stock has nearly a decade of political and policy experience in North Carolina. He began his career working with former Senator Wesley Meredith of Cumberland County and then moved to a position with the Senior Appropriations Chair, Senator Brent Jackson of Sampson County. In that role, Chris helped to develop both the state’s annual budget and annual Farm Bill. Before joining the firm, Christopher also held positions in the Office of Congressman David Rouzer, the Office of Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby, NC District and Superior Courts, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the NC Republican Party.
Christopher was a 2020 Fellow of the NC Institute of Political Leadership and a 2021 graduate of the EA Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders.
Christopher is a graduate of North Carolina State University where he majored in Political Science and was a Susan Carter and Abraham Holtzman Scholar. He also received a minor in Chinese Studies. A graduate of Campbell Law School, Christopher is licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
Michael Fairrington has worked in the halls of government and advocacy since 2020, starting his career as an intern for Representative Shepard of Onslow County and then moving to working with House Appropriations Chairman Kyle Hall of Stokes County. While working with Chairman Hall, Michael worked on the state budget, specifically local projects.
Before joining Kairos, Michael worked as the Government Affairs Manager at The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association where he led the government affairs work to advance North Carolina’s clean energy economy. Michael received a B.A. in Political Science with a focus in domestic politics from Coastal Carolina before obtaining a Masters in Public Administration from North Carolina State University.
Michael and his wife, Simone, live in Staley with their newborn son.
Scott Laster serves as Senior Political Advisor and has been serving the clients of Kairos Government Affairs since 2013. Beyond his expertise in lobbying, he provides clients with an unprecedented understanding of political giving, polling and campaigns in North Carolina.
Scott began his work in North Carolina as the House Campaign Director for the North Carolina Republican Party. As the Campaign Director, Scott led the caucus to a historic victory in 2010 that saw Republicans pick up 16 seats – and claim a 68-52 majority in the House for the second time in history. Following his groundbreaking success, Scott was chosen as Executive Director for the NCGOP to lead the charge for the 2012 elections. Following the 2012 elections, Republicans held a supermajority in both the House and Senate.
Scott holds undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of South Florida and a graduate degree in Political Science with a focus on campaigns from the University of Florida.
Scott lives in Fuquay Varina with his two sons and daughter and also volunteers as an EMT and Captain for a local search and rescue team.
