Wednesday, January 9, 2019: Today the House and Senate held their organizational Sessions for the purpose of electing officers and adopting Rules for each Chamber. Speaker Tim Moore and Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger were both re-elected to their respective positions.

Within the adoption of Temporary Rules by the House (Permanent Rules by the Senate) are some key dates to place on your calendar:

House Local Bills: In Drafting by 4pm on February 6th and filed by 3pm on February 21st.

House Agency Bills: In Drafting by 4pm on February 13th and filed by 3pm on February 28th.

House Non-Appropriation/Finance Referral: In Drafting by 4pm on March 31st and filed by 3pm on April 16th.

House Appropriation/Finance Referral Eligible: In Drafting by 4pm on April 3rd and filed by 3pm on April 23rd

House/Senate Crossover: Must pass either Chamber (unless it contains referral to either Appropriations or Finance) by May 9th to remain eligible for the Regular Session (2019-2020).

There is a 15 public bill filing limit per House Member

Senate Local Bills: In Drafting by 4pm on February 27th and filed by 4pm on March 14th.

Senate Public Bills (all others): In Drafting by 4pm on March 13th and filed by 2pm on April 2nd

House/Senate Crossover: Must pass either Chamber (unless it contains referral to either Appropriations or Finance) by May 9th to remain eligible for the Regular Session (2019-2020).

There is no bill filing limit per Senate Member
